Top 5 Puppy Products

If you don’t already know me, I’m Gunner. I’ve got high energy, a big personality, and let’s just say… some very strong opinions. My parents fell in love with me (as they absolutely should), but they weren’t entirely prepared for what they were signing up for when they brought me home.

Between needing constant mental stimulation, regular activity to keep my bones and back healthy, and my extremely confident approach to potty training (I’ve done my business in just about every place imaginable—no judgment here), I keep them on their toes daily.

Because of that, my parents have discovered what they call their top 5 “holy grail” dog products since I arrived. These are the items they’ve used the most, relied on the hardest, and honestly… probably wouldn’t survive puppy life without.

We truly believe every puppy owner should know about these. So enjoy the list, share the blog if you loved it, and leave your thoughts or suggestions for what we should try next—we’re always looking for another favourite.

  1. Dog Crate

A cozy corner in an apartment with a tall floor lamp, a small table with decorative items, a potted plant, a cup of coffee, and two sleeping dogs on a fluffy blanket.

One of my favourite features about this crate is the sliding door and the secure bottom locks. We noticed that Gunner used to chew on the bars of his traditional metal crate, but that behaviour completely disappeared after switching to this one.

Not only is it a great crate, but it's also beautifully multifunctional. It works as an end table, storage piece, bedside table, or decorative furniture while still providing a comfortable space for Gunner.

Traditional wire crates always felt bulky, unattractive, and out of place in my apartment. This crate effortlessly melts into my decor and creates a much cleaner, more cohesive look. It's one of those pet products that is both practical and stylish, a rare combination.

2. Urine Destroyer

THIS RIGHT HERE is the holy grail of puppy potty-training products.

Nobody talks about how challenging it can be to stay on top of accidents when you're raising a stubborn puppy. Our puppy refuses to step outside if it's raining, snowing, windy, or colder than 20°C. Gunner wasn't exaggerating when he said he's done his business everywhere.

Thankfully, Nature's Miracle Urine Destroyer has been a lifesaver. Whether it's a fresh accident or a stubborn stain, this spray makes it look like it never happened and eliminate lingering odours that can encourage repeat accidents. Simply spray the affected area, let it sit for a few minutes, and blot with a clean cloth.

As a puppy owner, this has easily become one of the most-used products in our home.

3. Snuggle Puppy

As a tiny puppy, Gunner struggled with being left alone and would often cry when it was time to settle down. After introducing the Snuggle Puppy, his anxiety and whining decreased significantly.

Whenever I leave the house or it's time for bed, the Snuggle Puppy goes into the crate with him. He curls up beside it and falls asleep. The built-in heartbeat and optional warming packs help create a comforting environment

Gunner absolutely adores this buddy. He babies it like it's his most prized possession and carries it around everywhere. It has also helped make crate training and alone time much less stressful for both of us.

4. Dog Stairs

A living room with a beige sofa, decorated with two large pillows, a throw blanket, and a textured footrest labeled "Cozy Kiss." In the background, a floor lamp and a basket with toys are visible, with a framed picture hanging on the wall.

As a dachshund owner, protecting Gunner's back is always a top priority.

These stairs have made it so much easier for him to safely get on and off the couch and bed without putting unnecessary strain on his spine. Instead of worrying about repeated jumping and the potential risk of back injuries, we now have peace of mind knowing he has a safer way to access his favourite spots.

What I love most is how quickly he adapted to them. It's become second nature for him to use the stairs rather than jump. Whether he's playing, cuddling on the couch, or heading to bed, the stairs are now part of his daily routine.

They're also incredibly soft, sturdy, and available in beautiful neutral colours that blend into home decor.

5. Dog Harness

Gunner absolutely hated anything wrapped around his body, which made finding the right harness a challenge. With his unique dachshund build, most harnesses either pinched his armpits, were too tight around his chest and abdomen, or were loose enough for him to slip right out of them.

The soft fabric lining on the harness sits comfortably against his body without causing irritation, and the fit is secure without being restrictive. It's lightweight, supportive, and comfortable enough for all-day wear.

I also love that it features two leash attachment points, allowing you to choose between different pressure points depending on your dog's needs and walking style. Plus, the houndstooth pattern is absolutely adorable and looks so stylish on him.
